Pallet Island

Ooo--doesn't pallet island sound like a wonderful place to visit?  A beach filled with pallet lounge chairs where umbrella drinks rest on pallet tables.  I am afraid this is not that kind of island.  But it is a kitchen island made from a pallet.
This was a smaller pallet, with little spaces in between the wood.  I added some small trim pieces and croquet mallet handles to fill the spaces and the some Bri Wax to shine it up.

The legs were made from 2x6's, I added locking casters and the bottom shelf from pallet pieces.
A croquet mallet handle for a towel bar,
a bottle opener and hook on the front and a pallet wine and book holder and this pallet island is ready to roll.

  2. Oh. My. Gosh. I love everything about that. The handles are awesome and usine various colors gives it a ton of character. Are you keeping it for yourself or taking it to Missoula with you? If you aren't - you should. People would snatch these up I bet because they are a perfect size for even a smaller kitchen. Have a great weekend!

seriously, how many hours a day do you work? I barely have time to get all my stuff done, and I'm in a house by myself, no family to care for!

  13. Great idea. Very useful. Something like this would make a great little side table for on the patio next to the BBQ. Always needing a little extra place to set stuff.

  23. Thanks for sharing this idea of pallet recycling. I'd never think to turn one in to a kitchen island! I built a potting bench out of two pallets. You can see the results here: http://greenpreferred.com/?s=potting+bench
